We are seeking highly motivated and talented undergraduate and graduate students to join our team as Co-ops in the Navigation Research and Development Division (NRDD) at The Pennsylvania State University.
Job SummaryThe NRDD is a satellite campus of ARL focused on developing the most advanced navigation technologies in the world. As a Co-op in this division, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects related to navigation systems, including designing and building hardware, programming software, and analyzing data.
Responsibilities- Support laboratory operations related to the development, testing, and evaluation of navigation systems.
- Work with a cooperative team of scientists and engineers responsible for a mix of hands-on work with electrical circuitry, embedded software, and/or FPGA firmware development.
- Design and build hardware to interface with state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation.
- Program software to interface with this equipment, software for logging/processing test data, real-time programming of mathematical algorithms, and analyzing data.
- Conduct live tests of sensors.
- Undergraduate and Graduate students studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering are preferred.
- Students must be available to work at the Warminster facility for a six-month time period.
- Multiple vacancies are available.
- Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply.
- Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) is a Department of Defense (DoD) designated University Affiliated Research Center (UARC), which serves as a center of research excellence in a multitude of areas. ARL conducts basic and applied research, exploratory development, and advanced development in support of the U.S. government organizations; contributes to the educational objectives and research goals of Penn State; and promotes the transfer of advanced technology to the U.S. government.
