We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Therapist to join our team at the Caswell Developmental Center, a state-of-the-art facility providing specialized residential, programmatic, and support services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will provide physical therapy assessment and treatment to assigned caseload, utilizing an interdisciplinary team process. This includes screenings, evaluations, consultations, planning, and implementing physical therapy treatments and programs. The Physical Therapist will also supervise Physical Therapy Assistants/Technicians, delegating and teaching therapeutic techniques, monitoring treatment plans, and providing co-treatments with other disciplines.
Key Responsibilities- Provide training to home staff on evaluation and treatment techniques, as requested.
- Attend routine meetings of residents on assigned caseload, including annual life plan and interim meetings.
- Assess seating systems, therapeutic equipment, and supports to promote mobility, optimal functioning, and safety.
- Attend Orthopedic/Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation appointments to present orthopedic/PMR problems of assigned residents to consultants, as needed.
- Complete comprehensive evaluations/assessments, progress notes, and discharge notes, as specified by departmental/center policies and procedures.
- Participate in departmental meetings, engage in professional continuing education, and assist with Physical Therapy student affiliations.
- Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of North Carolina.
- Degree from an appropriately accredited college or university.
- Considerable knowledge of physical therapy principles, techniques, methods, and modalities.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team process.
- Ability to effectively document PT service delivery components/tasks.
- Ability to communicate with a variety of professional and home staff regarding PT services.
- Ability to work in a flexible day-to-day routine.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability to use a computer and various computer programs.
- Masters or Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
- Experience working with ID/IDD population.
The Physical Therapist will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to individuals with developmental disabilities.
