Job SummaryThe Medical Support Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our donors, as well as the quality of our plasma products. This individual will be responsible for determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results.
Key Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility accurately and in a timely manner, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion.
- Evaluate and manage donor reaction(s) that occur at the facility, as outlined in our Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage donor deferral, reviewing test results and notifying donors of unsuitable test results per applicable SOPs.
- Initiate and investigate Post Donation Information (PDI), referring to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs as needed.
- Assist the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program as required, including conducting pre-placement evaluations of new hires and maintaining employee medical records.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where duties will be assigned: Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse (LPN or LVN).
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification required.
- Fulfillment of state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy.
- Able to satisfactorily complete the FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
- Minimum of two years in a clinical or hospital setting preferred.
We offer a competitive hourly wage range of $34.38, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, and company match. U.S. based employees may also be eligible for short-term incentives and paid volunteer time off.
