Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacist to join our team at the US Department of Health and Human Services. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in providing quality pharmaceutical services to eligible patients in accordance with Federal and State law, Indian Health Service regulations, and accepted medical/ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Select, procure, prepare, and dispense medications as prescribed.
  • Counsel patients on the use, storage, cautions, and side effects of medications dispensed.
  • Review patient medical records for safety, appropriateness, and effectiveness of drug therapy.
  • Properly store and protect drugs and chemicals.
  • Coordinate care with outside agencies, transferring prescriptions to outside pharmacies, processing incoming prescriptions, and collaborating with professionals.
Requirements
  • Must pass a pre-employment examination.
  • Selectee may be subject to a probationary period.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • This is a designated position covered by Public Law 101-630, requiring contact or control over Indian children.
  • Measles and Rubella immunization is required for selectees born after 1957, and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service healthcare facilities.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is required for all selectees prior to entrance on duty.
  • The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements.
  • On-call hours or standby duty may be required.
  • Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations.

Education:

A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the ACPE or an accrediting body recognized by the at the time the degree was obtained.

Licensure:

Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Experience:

Applicant's qualifications background must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary to perform the work of the position.
