Job Summary
As a Behavioral Support Technician, you will be responsible for executing skill-acquisition and behavioral intervention strategies devised by the Education Team and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Your role will focus on enhancing communication, social, and daily living skills while minimizing challenging behaviors in educational and home settings. You will collaborate with classroom teams, coaches, mental health consultants, school counselors, and specialists from the Multnomah Early Childhood Program (MECP) as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with educational staff to implement tailored intervention strategies for children. Initially provide high levels of support, gradually reducing assistance as staff develop their skills in executing these interventions. Offer continuous support for action and safety plans as required.
  2. Engage one-on-one with children to foster communication abilities and teach function-based replacement skills.
  3. Monitor classroom settings to identify potential behavioral triggers and reinforcers. Regularly collect data to evaluate the fidelity and effectiveness of implemented interventions. Maintain communication with site staff regarding elements affecting the classroom atmosphere and children's behaviors.
  4. Utilize evidence-based positive interventions, emphasizing skill development among staff to effectively support children in the classroom.
  5. Participate in regular meetings with the BCBA to analyze data and strategize on progress.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Perform any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in education, child development, social sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Two years of experience working with children facing disabilities and/or behavioral challenges.
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board or the ability to obtain it within 60 days of employment.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle during work hours for travel between work sites. A minimum of three years of driving history is required.
Additional Requirements
  • Enrollment in the Oregon Central Background Registry prior to commencing employment, with ongoing maintenance of enrollment throughout employment.
  • Completion of a post-offer fitness for duty evaluation within 30 days of hire, including TB screening and health appraisal.
  • Completion of required Oregon Department of Education Early Learning Division Self-Study Trainings within 30 days of hire.
  • Current Infant/Child First Aid/CPR certification within 60 days of hire.

Working Conditions
Frequent travel between work sites is required to provide classroom support. The role may involve unpredictable behaviors from children and families. Some tasks will be performed in a standard office environment while utilizing a computer terminal.
