Job Summary

The University of California, Davis is seeking a highly skilled Veterinarian 3 to join our team at the California National Primate Research Center. As a Veterinarian 3, you will provide veterinary medical services for in-patient and outpatient areas, including health care and preventive medicine for nonhuman primates. This is a critical position that requires a strong service mentality and the ability to work well with many personalities and individuals from different cultures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide health care services to nonhuman primates housed in 407,148 square feet in BSL 1 -3 animal spaces that include indoor housing, outdoor field corrals, outdoor corn crib housing, inhalation therapy, and animal testing space.
  • Work on call, on a rotating basis, and provide 24 hour/after-hours veterinary coverage for on call emergencies.
  • Adhere and comply with CNPRC Regulatory, Protocols, and SOPs and standards and Health & Safety policies.
Requirements
  • Must be willing to perform assigned duties in a BioSafety Level (BSL) 2 or 3 facility where non-humans primates may be either naturally or experimentally infected with potentially hazardous diseases such as HIV, SIV, or Herpes B virus.
  • Measles vaccination or proof of illness required. TB test or chest x-ray, measles vaccination or proof of illness is required prior to employment and annually thereafter.
