Job Responsibilities and Requirements

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Trauma Care department, you will be responsible for assessing, triaging, and treating patients of various ages who require emergency care. We deliver prompt, compassionate service to individuals facing emergency and life-threatening situations. Our services range from treating fractures to managing heart attacks and strokes. We are a supportive team seeking an ER RN who shares our dedication to patient care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Documenting relevant nursing notes to reflect changes in patient condition, transfers, and discharges.
  • Administering medications according to physician directives.
  • Responding to and managing incoming phone inquiries, including phone triage as necessary.
  • Understanding and managing all care zones, including triage, rapid treatment, pediatric ER, trauma, and behavioral health.
  • Coordinating and triaging incoming ambulance traffic.
  • Collaborating with the primary ED attending physician.
  • Utilizing the Emergency Severity Index 5-level triage algorithm effectively.
  • Responding to critical situations and serving as a resource nurse for trauma cases.
  • Educating patients and their families about medications, procedures, and treatments, providing support throughout their care journey.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program: Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher is required.
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice or a valid Compact/Multi-State RN license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross is required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross is preferred and must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Life Support (PALS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross is preferred and must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Prior experience in Emergency, Hospital, or Critical Care nursing is strongly preferred.

This is a Full-Time, NIGHT Shift position with 12-hour shifts (approximately 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM).

Rotating weekends and holidays are part of the schedule.
