Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Domestic Violence Specialist to join our team at YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee. This is an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and empathetic professional to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals affected by domestic violence.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing emotional support, resources, and safety planning to callers on our 24-hour crisis and support helpline. They will also work closely with shelter residents, providing direct services and support throughout their stay.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the needs of callers and determine eligibility for intake, developing transportation plans to ensure safe arrival at the shelter.
  • Provide supportive interactions and information on the dynamics of domestic violence to shelter residents, using a trauma-informed care approach.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records for each client, documenting resident behaviors, incidents, interactions, and progress.
  • Conduct intake, orientation, exits, exit interviews, and safety planning with shelter residents, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.
Requirements
  • A minimum of six months' experience in a residential or domestic violence shelter, including call center operations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree in Counseling or a related mental health field is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and exercise sound judgment and discretion in crisis situations.
