Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Skating Coach to join our team at Ford Ice Center in Clarksville. As a Skating Coach, you will be responsible for instructing students in the basics of figure skating, maintaining discipline and safety at all times, and promoting a positive and welcoming environment for students of all experience levels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Instruct students in figure skating techniques and skills, providing individualized attention and feedback to ensure progress and improvement.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs and skill levels of students, ensuring a fun and engaging learning experience.
  • Maintain a safe and organized skating environment, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, providing regular updates on student progress and any changes to lesson schedules or programs.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on the latest teaching methods and techniques.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and staff members to develop and implement new programs and initiatives.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as maintaining records and reports, and assisting with event planning and coordination.
Requirements
  • Must be 16 years old.
  • Must maintain U.S. Figure Skating membership and Professional Skaters' Association Full Membership at all times.
  • PSA Basic Accreditation and PSA rating or ranking.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in coordination of people and resources.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to interact successfully with a variety of people.
  • Good leadership and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to train others to accomplish goals.
  • Figure skating/hockey knowledge.
  • Confident of skills and ability to make sound, independent decisions.
  • Strong leadership qualities.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to skate and instruct clients.
  • Ability to lift children and be mobile on the ice.
  • Ability to work in a cold environment.
  • Excellent speaking and listening skills, requiring the perception of speech.
  • Physical activities include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, twisting, lifting, grasping, balancing, and handling of materials, and working with arms raised for prolonged periods.
  • Exposure to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust.
  • Ability to work with and around water and ice and to work at or below freezing temperatures for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.
