Job Summary

The Ozarks Regional YMCA is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Program Staff to join our team at Camp Wakonda. As a Program Staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of our seasonal camping programs by implementing existing program activities and providing a safe and inclusive environment for our campers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of Outdoor Education, Youth Committee, and Weekend Camp Programs
  • Participate in Outdoor Education training to enhance your skills and knowledge
  • Facilitate classes and follow curriculum when working with visiting school groups
  • Run climbing wall and low ropes programs for visiting groups and schools
  • Run lakefront activities such as boating and fishing
  • Predict, prevent, identify, and respond to safety issues
  • Communicate with all guests in a mature and responsible fashion
  • Assist in program development and advancement
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Participate in daily cleaning of program buildings as assigned
  • Work in other departments or program areas as assigned
Requirements
  • Two years of working in an overnight camping setting preferred
  • Must be 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be available throughout the fall semester
  • Must be able to align with and demonstrate the YMCA four core values on a consistent basis
  • CPR Pro & First Aid Certification required within the first 30 days (training can be provided)
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
