Job Summary

Covenant Health is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting human clinical specimens using established, approved laboratory methods, in a safe and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect blood and other clinical specimens from patients using venipuncture, capillary puncture, and other approved methods.
  • Identify patients accurately using established protocols and verify patient information before collecting specimens.
  • Interpret laboratory orders from clinical provider staff and enter orders into hospital computer systems.
  • Perform minor specimen processing tasks, including centrifugation, separation of serum/plasma, and specimen preservation.
  • Interact with patients, physicians, and hospital staff in a professional manner.
  • Register patients accurately in the hospital information system and order laboratory tests with utmost accuracy.
  • Identify and resolve specimen collection problems, and ensure patient consent has been obtained.
Requirements:
  • National certification (ASCP or equivalent) in Phlebotomy is preferred but not required.
  • 6 months experience in phlebotomy preferred.
  • Training in an approved school or program of phlebotomy is desired, but on-the-job training and experience will be evaluated through display of job knowledge and skills.
Working Conditions:

The Phlebotomist will work in a fast-paced clinical environment, requiring the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. The position involves standing, walking, bending, and reaching, with frequent lifting and carrying of up to 35 pounds.
