Phlebotomy Specialist

Covenant Health is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting human clinical specimens using established, approved laboratory methods, in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:- Collect blood and other clinical specimens from patients using venipuncture, capillary puncture, and other approved methods.
- Interpret laboratory orders from clinical provider staff and enter orders into hospital computer systems.
- Register patients in the hospital admission and billing systems, verify insurance coverage, and place physician orders into the order entry system.
- Perform minor specimen processing tasks, including centrifugation, separation of serum/plasma, and specimen preservation.
- Interact with patients, physicians, and hospital staff members in a professional manner.
- National certification (ASCP or equivalent) in Phlebotomy is preferred but not required.
- 6 months experience in phlebotomy preferred.
- Training in an approved school or program of phlebotomy is desired, but on-the-job training and experience will be evaluated through display of job knowledge and skills.
The Phlebotomist will work in a fast-paced clinical environment, requiring strong communication and organizational skills. The ability to lift/carry up to 35 pounds and occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds is required.
