AVP - Hotel Franchise Finance Portfolio Management

Role Overview:
As part of the Hotel Franchise Finance (HFF) team, the Portfolio Manager-HFF will report directly to the Underwriting Team Lead. This position entails the evaluation, structuring, underwriting, and finalization of intricate loan agreements for hotel properties throughout the United States. The Portfolio Manager will collaborate closely with the Underwriting Team Lead and the Managing Director of Sales to ensure vigilant monitoring and identification of credit risks. The individual will play a pivotal role in supporting the Underwriting Team Lead and Managing Director in achieving the objectives of both the Bank and the Business Line through proactive underwriting, closure, and management of advantageous loans. The Portfolio Manager is also tasked with ensuring adherence to all Bank policies and procedures, alongside compliance with relevant state and federal banking regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with the Underwriting Team Lead and Managing Director of Sales to assess loan opportunities, providing insights on credit metrics and proposed loan structures; maintain communication with high-level clients such as hotel owners and financial executives to evaluate optimal credit structures that align with both Bank requirements and client needs.
- Collect, analyze, and succinctly summarize complex underwriting data to present, in collaboration with the Underwriting Team Lead and Managing Director, a clear financing proposal to senior management and credit approvers.
- Identify essential property characteristics and challenges, including brand evaluation, occupancy rates, competitive positioning, and demand factors.
- Review financial projections from appraisers and borrowers, incorporating variance analysis while justifying independent assumptions; evaluate appraisals for accuracy and identify potential valuation and underwriting risks.
- Negotiate loan documentation in accordance with approved terms, including financial covenants, draw structures, personal guarantees, collateral controls, and default remedies.
- Exhibit strong organizational and teamwork capabilities; ensure efficient administration and closure of approved loans, confirming compliance with Bank lending policies and customer requirements.
- Deliver exceptional customer service through proactive engagement with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Manage various underwriting and portfolio management tasks related to new loan requests and the existing portfolio.
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Hotel or Commercial Real Estate underwriting within a financial institution.
- Extensive knowledge of credit principles and underwriting practices in Commercial Real Estate lending.
- Advanced expertise in financial statement and tax return analysis, typically acquired through education in accounting or finance.
- Strong portfolio management skills, enabling timely identification of credit issues.
- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication abilities.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Capacity to manage multiple credit requests simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with a positive and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Willingness to travel on short notice as needed.
The salary range for new hires typically falls between $130,000 and $163,256.00, determined by specific job location. This role may also be eligible for annual bonuses and restricted stock options.
