Job Summary

As a Radiologic Imaging Specialist at FlexStaff Careers, you will be responsible for operating Computed Tomography (CT) equipment, preparing patients for examination, and ensuring that proper information has been obtained for the physician to make a diagnosis. This role requires a strong understanding of imaging protocols and the ability to work collaboratively with radiologists to extend parameters as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for examination and explain procedures in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ensure that consent forms for IV contrast materials have been obtained and screen for pregnancy.
  • Perform CT procedures, including abdominal, thoracic, neurological exams, and extremities.
  • Prepare patient for exam by placing and positioning patient on exam table within the gantry.
  • Adjust and ensure proper slice thickness and couch increment.
  • In collaboration with Radiologist, extend parameters, if needed, within established imaging protocols.
  • Utilize special devices to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas.
  • Administer intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist order and perform venipuncture of the appropriate gauge necessary for examination.
  • Explain in layman's terms the administration of IV contrast and complete the IV Contrast Information Sheet with information provided by the patient, family member or health care proxy.
  • Recognize and assist in the treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations.
Qualifications
  • Vocational or Technical school Diploma required.
  • Current License to practice as a Radiologist in New York State.
  • Current ARRT Radiology registration required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 1-3 years of technical experience, required.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association.
