Job Summary

The Nursing Apprentice in Labor and Delivery at Denver Health provides high-quality patient care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role is ideal for nursing students seeking to enhance their clinical skills in a hospital environment while still enrolled in an ADN or BSN program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic patient care activities, including vital sign monitoring, blood glucose measurements, and intake/output recording.
  • Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living, such as bathing, grooming, and eating.
  • Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized unit environment.
  • Develop clinical nurse skills through observation and supervised hands-on experience.
  • Document patient information in accordance with clinical guidelines.
  • Collaborate with interprofessional teams to improve healthcare consumer throughput and quality care.
Requirements
  • Post-high school diploma or certificate program required.
  • Less than 1 year of experience; must have successfully completed Med/Surg 1 at time of application.
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required.
