Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with physician orders, utilizing therapeutic procedures to address deficits in self-care skills and daily living abilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring quality and efficiency in occupational therapy delivery.
  • Manage the delivery of care throughout treatment, delegating components to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants as needed.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, providing support and information within the area of occupational therapy.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Review patient information and evaluate its impact on assessment and treatment processes.
  • Conduct thorough functional assessments, including home and vocational needs.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on patient needs, containing achievable functional goals.
  • Comply with evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines.
  • Record patient progress in the patient record, revising treatment plans as needed.
  • Document treatment courses in a clear, concise manner, including discharge summaries.
  • Instruct Assistants in treatment procedures and provide close supervision.
  • Orient patients to program services and treatment procedures, informing them of potential risks.
  • Work with nursing staff, patients, and families to maximize patient functional abilities.
  • Establish and instruct patients and families in exercises and therapeutic procedures for continued use after discharge.
  • Assist in referral processes for additional services post-discharge, maintaining current knowledge of community resources.
  • Attend and participate in rehabilitation team conferences, department meetings, and quality improvement activities.
Requirements
  • Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy or Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy with five years of direct practice experience.
  • Current license/certification in the state of practice.
  • Prefer current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
  • Demonstrated competency in applying occupational therapy principles, methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Adequate computer skills for required job duties and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess patient needs and develop comprehensive plans of care.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
  • Promote Vertis Therapy programs and services through formal and informal interactions with the community.
