About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Training Facilitator to join our team at the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, writing, delivering, and evaluating leadership development training programs, team-building sessions, and assessment debriefs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement adult learning methodologies to enhance instructional design and delivery.
  • Plan, write, evaluate, and update training programs and course content to meet the needs of our diverse stakeholders.
  • Design training objectives and assess participant progress towards meeting them, ensuring a high level of engagement and retention.
  • Maintain accurate records of curriculum, materials, and training sessions, and gather feedback to continuously improve training quality.
  • Assess training needs and effectiveness, and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Order instructional materials as needed, and assist in preparing instructors or speakers for training sessions.
  • Actively engage in delivering course content to participants, and organize and facilitate presentations, team-building activities, assessment debriefs, and custom workshops.
  • Collaborate with managers to discuss learning opportunities for employees, and work closely with program coordinators to implement training programs.
  • Partner with internal teams to enrich courses with visual aids and interactive elements, and measure and evaluate the outcomes and impact of training sessions.
  • Assist in planning of annual conference, and contribute to the development of training programs that align with the university's strategic goals.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant training experience, with a strong background in instructional design and delivery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint and Word.
  • Knowledge of instructional design methodologies, such as ADDIE, and understanding of Bloom's taxonomy.
  • Familiarity with leadership concepts and development, and excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong active listening skills, strategic and analytical thinking abilities, and attention to detail with solid research capabilities.
  • Leadership qualities, effective verbal and written communication skills, and strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities, creativity in designing engaging training materials, and demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
  • Analytical evaluation skills for budgeting and planning, and project management skills to coordinate complex training initiatives.
  • Certification and ability to debrief assessments such as DISC, MBTI, EQ-I, and 360s.
