Job Title: Community Health Paramedic

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Community Health Paramedic to join our team at the City & Borough of Juneau, AK. As a Community Health Paramedic, you will play a vital role in providing healthcare services to our community, working closely with patients, families, and healthcare providers to promote health, prevent illness, and improve quality of life.

Job Summary:

The Community Health Paramedic will work under the general direction of the CARES Program Manager to provide healthcare services to patients in the community. This includes conducting in-home welfare checks and assessments, assisting with scheduling appointments for medical care, and providing transportation to scheduled appointments. The Community Health Paramedic will also advocate for patients, assisting them with access to other available services both in and outside of our community.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-home welfare checks and assessments to identify patients' healthcare needs
  • Assist patients with scheduling appointments for medical care and provide transportation to scheduled appointments
  • Advocate for patients, assisting them with access to other available services both in and outside of our community
  • Work closely with patients, families, and healthcare providers to promote health, prevent illness, and improve quality of life
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices in community health and paramedicine
Requirements:
  • High School graduation or possession of a GED certificate
  • Valid Driver's License at time of appointment and for continued employment
  • At time of appointment, either a License as a State of Alaska Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic, Certification with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as an Paramedic, or Equivalent licensure in another state, province or territory
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional experience working directly with people dealing with mental health, behavioral health, or substance abuse
  • Professional experience working with elderly populations in a healthcare or assisted living facility
  • Professional experience working as a career EMS Provider at the MICP level
  • Certification in Geriatric Education for EMS (GEMS)
