Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Radiologic Technologist, you will be responsible for operating x-ray equipment to produce high-quality radiographs of designated portions of the body. You will work closely with physicians to ensure accurate and timely imaging results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body
  • Accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures
  • Knowledgeable in the safe use, maneuverability, and operation of all general radiography, portable, and fluoro equipment
  • Proficient in the performance of general diagnostic procedures, including general fluoroscopy procedures
  • Adhere to infection prevention, isolation, and sterile techniques
  • Utilize proper patient identification to ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient at the correct time
  • Obtain and record pertinent patient history and explain the procedure to the patient in a manner to ensure understanding
  • Review radiographs to ensure optimum quality and report environmental/equipment problems to appropriate resource personnel
  • Perform required computer functions for RIS/HIS systems and label all radiographs appropriately
  • Consistently maintain an attitude of professionalism, teamwork, and collaboration with co-workers, physicians, and internal customers/departments
  • Provide positive interactions and a customer-first approach with patients and their families/caregivers and visitors
  • Participate in assessment of own learning needs and actively seek opportunities for increased competency and growth
  • Attend in-services to ensure knowledge of current departmental and technical procedures
  • Maintain appropriate state license and national board certification
  • Ensure cleanliness of equipment and work area and maintain inventory of supplies in work area
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT (RT) Certification or Certificate Eligible
  • Good communication skills
  • Understanding of RIS & PACS
  • Ability to work under stressful situations
  • Ability to handle patient information in a confidential manner
  • Ability to adapt to fluctuations in patient volumes to meet patient care and department needs
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays in order to accommodate patient care needs
  • Ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week
  • Ability to take call and arrive on site within one hour
  • May be exposed to radiation during procedures
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time or be required to lift and move patients
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials, infectious disease, and required to participate in annual emergency drills
  • Required to maintain current CPR certification
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance
