Position Overview:
Under the supervision of a physician, the Advanced Practice Provider, which includes both Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners, will take on primary responsibilities within their specialized area in accordance with applicable regulatory standards.
This role is pivotal in managing complex patient cases and diverse patient populations, collaborating closely with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals. The candidate must exhibit the necessary knowledge, critical thinking, and skills to effectively plan, coordinate, and deliver ongoing patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
Primarily focused on outpatient care, with minimal time spent in inpatient settings.
Acts as a representative of the supervising physician for any medical services delegated within the scope of practice of the Advanced Practice Provider.
Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage patients' healthcare needs. Implement clinical interventions, assess outcomes, and modify care plans as necessary. Proactively communicate changes in patient conditions to ensure optimal care.May participate in practice call obligations.
May perform specific procedures and provide first assist coverage.
No operating room duties required.
No emergency department or unassigned call obligations.
Ensure timely and thorough documentation in line with facility policies.
Adhere to care scope as guided by federal, state, and local regulations.
Consistently demonstrate appropriate patient referrals and transfers to other facilities.
Maintain an up-to-date understanding of disease processes while conducting comprehensive health histories and physical examinations or focused assessments based on patient status.
Provide appropriate referrals and information to patients and physicians.Order necessary tests, procedures, and therapies in collaboration with medical staff, following relevant organizational policies.
Conduct ongoing patient assessments and develop care plans in partnership with other healthcare providers.Recognize physical, developmental, and psychosocial distress in patients and families, providing suitable interventions.
Respond effectively to emergency situations, making patient management decisions based on individual needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (CNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) from the respective state boards in South Dakota or Wyoming.
Preferred:
Experience of 1+ years in clinical settings; 1+ years in healthcare environments.
Physical Requirements:
Light work
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
