Procurement Specialist

Your Role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to enhance our operations.

This position involves engaging in purchasing activities within a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Procurement Specialist will collaborate with internal stakeholders to ascertain their needs, including specifications, service requirements, and performance expectations.

The role offers exposure to various procurement categories such as Maintenance Repair and Operating (MRO) supplies, direct materials, chemicals, spare parts, and external services.

In this position, you will gain insights into national, regional, and local contract agreements while ensuring adherence to corporate and local policies and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and purchasing policies and procedures.
- Utilize the company's procurement system to manage purchase orders effectively.

- Confirm that contractual documents accurately reflect the terms of purchase, including payment and freight terms, incoterms, and other essential commercial conditions.

- Issue requests for quotations (RFQ), assess and compare quotes, negotiate pricing and terms, and apply independent judgment to select suppliers based on total cost of ownership.

- Leverage the company's strategic supply agreements to maximize value.

- Work closely with internal requestors to clarify requirements such as specifications, scopes of work, and performance timelines.

- Exhibit a strong customer focus and a sense of urgency in all interactions.

- Employ effective verbal and written communication skills to resolve issues and provide updates to both customers and suppliers.

- Analyze the root causes of accounts payable discrepancies and implement corrective measures.

- Initiate improvements to enhance the efficiency of the procurement process.

- Manage time effectively to achieve goals and prioritize various tasks.

- Oversee the administration of contractor management tools, including Ariba, ISNET, and SAP/S4.

- Facilitate competitive bidding events through Ariba and evaluate vendor proposals for compliance with requirements.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with at least 1 year of procurement experience, or 3+ years in procurement or a related field (e.g., project management, warehousing, accounting, supply chain).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in purchasing.
- Proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions and formulas.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Understanding of procurement processes and key commercial terms such as freight payables, incoterms, delivery terms, and invoice reconciliations.
- Experience negotiating contracts at various levels.
- Background in manufacturing or maintenance environments.
