The Lead Credit Risk Analyst plays a crucial role in monitoring the risk landscape of the Credit Union, focusing on identifying and assessing trends within the loan and investment portfolios that may signal increasing risks. This position is tasked with comprehending and evaluating regulatory standards to ensure compliance with applicable guidelines. The analyst conducts ongoing evaluations and formulates recommendations to be presented to senior leadership across the organization, utilizing cutting-edge data analysis tools to interpret and synthesize information. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the development of new enterprise risk reporting through business intelligence initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and present key performance indicators and risk metrics to oversee growth, delinquency, and recovery rates.
  • Communicate findings to Enterprise Risk Management and relevant committees.
  • Design analytical frameworks and propose strategies to effectively manage the Credit Union's credit risk.
  • Evaluate trends affecting credit risk and offer timely recommendations to address potential issues.
  • Conduct complex analyses and modeling to uncover patterns that may contribute to heightened risk levels.
  • Examine credit and investment counterparty risks to identify trends and suggest suitable risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to establish systems and strategies for credit risk management, including account monitoring methodologies.
  • Review existing credit policies and underwriting standards, recommending adjustments based on portfolio trend analyses.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive reporting framework for assessing all credit and counterparty risks, including loan and investment portfolios.
  • Perform trend analyses across various metrics and provide management with actionable insights based on these evaluations.
  • Engage with Credit Union partners, vendors, and external parties.
  • Support the Credit Risk Analysts in their tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, computer science, risk management, or a related discipline (equivalent work experience may be considered).
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in data and credit analysis, preferably within a financial institution.
  • At least 5 years of proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) and SSRS report generation.
  • 4 or more years of experience with Business Intelligence tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, and Qlik.
  • Strong understanding of credit underwriting, counterparty review, loss mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python (including Pandas, NumPy, SciPy), VBA, and shell scripting is highly desirable.
  • Solid knowledge of statistical analysis tools.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for interpreting extensive datasets.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in prioritizing tasks and managing competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with various stakeholders.
