The Office of Research and Innovation at Texas Tech University is seeking candidates for a full-time, 9-month research faculty role as a Director of BSL-2/BSL-3 Facilities. This position is targeted at the junior level, specifically for an Assistant Research Faculty Member, though other academic ranks may also be considered. A Ph.D. in molecular biology, microbiology, virology, or a closely related field is mandatory, along with substantial experience in overseeing a BSL-2/3 laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations and management of BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories.
- Ensure laboratory personnel are adequately trained in compliance with university protocols and Federal Select Agent Program (FSAP) regulations.
- Collaborate with researchers and faculty to ensure safe and compliant research practices.
- Act as the primary liaison for researchers, facilities maintenance, and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) personnel.
- Serve as an Alternate Responsible Official under the FSAP.
