POSITION INFORMATION:

Job Overview:

The Process Engineering Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the Process Engineering division, focusing on the standardization and enhancement of manufacturing operations. This position is accountable for ensuring that engineered systems are effectively established and maintained to facilitate efficient process execution and ongoing improvement initiatives. The role reports directly to the VP of Research and Development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Process Engineering Team, fostering skill development and coordinating team activities.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing to analyze, standardize, and enhance the manufacturing processes.
  • Advance the team's expertise in manufacturing technologies and methodologies.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives aimed at minimizing waste, enhancing product quality, and shortening manufacturing cycle times. This includes identifying key initiatives, leading projects, and managing resources to support CI efforts.
  • Assist in root cause analysis related to quality, throughput, or equipment performance issues.
  • Design programs to support initiatives such as improved operator training, 5S practices, and effective process change management.
  • Create and implement metrics to monitor performance and proactively address deviations from established standards.
  • Develop structured solutions to enhance product quality, throughput, and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives focused on Visual Factory concepts, streamlined material flow, waste reduction, and inventory control.
  • Ensure the integrity of system infrastructure, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), routers, and labor/material standards.
  • Generate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for compliance with industry standards and other necessary initiatives.
  • Promote the adoption of standardized work practices across the manufacturing floor and the organization.
  • Encourage the use of formal problem-solving methodologies throughout the manufacturing environment.
  • Advocate for Lean and Six Sigma principles and the DMAIC process to enhance process capabilities, product quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.
  • Support projects aimed at developing new products and processes.
  • Ensure that capable processes are established for new product introductions.
  • Participate in the acquisition of new equipment, including designing next-generation machinery, sourcing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) items, and retrofitting existing equipment with new technologies.
  • Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or a related field.
  • Formal training in Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Project Management training.
  • 7+ years of experience in a technical support role within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in managing a team directly.
  • Proficiency in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Process Control.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Preferred: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
