Job Summary

Total Safety is seeking a highly skilled Permit Writer to join their team of safety professionals. As a Permit Writer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe execution of work activities across various sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Issue and manage work permits for hot work, cold work, confined space entry, and other high-risk activities.
  • Audit compliance with regulatory agency requirements and facility safety procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and contractors to develop and implement effective safety plans.
  • Participate in daily progress update meetings and provide safety guidance to project teams.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of facility processes and procedures.
  • Facilitate and participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) with operations, maintenance, and contractors.
  • Assist in safety oversight of non-routine procedures, including hot tap procedures, on-stream leak repair procedures, inert entry procedures, and confined space entry and hot work.
  • Participate in and facilitate safety meetings as required by the client.
Requirements
  • Minimum 8 years of direct related safety experience in the petrochemical/refining industry or a minimum of 10 years' experience in operations with 5 years of direct related safety experience.
  • Previous experience writing permits in the petrochemical/refining industry.
  • Compliance with client permit procedures and gas testing requirements.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a thorough understanding of facility processes and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
