Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Senior Office Assistant to join our team at the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley. As a key member of our staff, you will provide exceptional customer service, administrative support, and animal care services in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality customer service to the public, promoting our organization's mission and services.
  • Assist with animal intake and adoption processes, including counseling potential adopters and educating owners about alternatives to relinquishing animals.
  • Accurately complete paperwork related to adoption agreements, microchip registration, licenses, owner reclaims, and owner relinquishments.
  • Assist with scheduling sterilization surgeries and complete timely and accurate computer data entry.
  • Responsible for incoming financial transactions, operating a cash register, and accurately recording all transactions.
  • May assist with follow-up phone calls to finalize adoptions, schedule sterilization surgery, or update foster to adopt program participants.
  • May assist with off-site events, including those pertaining to adoptions, clinics, or community events.
  • May serve as a backup to other clerical/administrative positions in the office and schedule and oversee the work of volunteers.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to a high school diploma plus three years of experience performing administrative office support.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in working with word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
  • Valid driver's license preferred and may be required.
  • Bilingual skills in English/Spanish desirable.
Working Conditions

This position involves working in a kennel/shelter setting, with exposure to animals, animal odors, and disinfectant solutions. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and willing to accommodate animals in the workplace.

This is a safety-sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with ASCMV policy.
