Role Summary of the Senior Business Architect

Senior Business Architects are responsible for defining the mission or business challenges and opportunities by evaluating Strategic Guidance documents and User CONOPS. They characterize the solution landscape by identifying workflows and information flows, articulating mission needs, and developing recommended business processes to shape the solution approach and influence the capability roadmap and planning. They create and communicate business architecture artifacts, which include identifying mission stakeholders, articulating problem/opportunity statements, conducting Business/Mission alternative analyses, and documenting business analyst records.

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Business Architect
  • Develop, maintain, and document business perspectives within the Corporate Enterprise Architecture, ensuring alignment with NGA's Strategy and CONOPs.
  • Formulate the business analysis strategy, defining the Problem/Opportunity, major stakeholders, and Preliminary lifecycle concept.
  • Create business architecture information and artifacts in accordance with the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and the Intelligence Community's (IC) Program Architecture Guidance (PAG).
  • Conduct business architecture analysis, evaluating alternatives, identifying business requirements, and proposing validation criteria, Preliminary Measures of Effectiveness (MOE) needs, MOE data, and functional traceability.
  • Define and document the necessary Resource, Functional, and Operational Capabilities and associated activities and services related to NGA Corporate, along with systems analysis to baseline the current NGA CEA.
  • Plan, design, and perform systems engineering work to illustrate the future state of the NGA CEA.
  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical architecture and technical roadmaps that outline the phased schedule for transitioning systems and services from the current state to the future state CEA, including program, segment, and project-based solution-level architectures consistent with the enterprise-level architecture.
Required Qualifications for the Senior Business Architect
  • Top Secret / SCI (TS/SCI) Security Clearance.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business, operations research, or engineering, or equivalent senior-level work experience as a Business Architect.
  • Extensive experience in business architecture, business process re-engineering, and business modeling with systems engineering.
  • Proven experience in government or industry with architecture tools.
  • Experience in the IC and DoD Business Transformation efforts and Business Enterprise Architecture.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the White House, OMB, or GSA's Shared Services initiative, including the DoD and IC's End-to-End Business Processes.
  • Experience with Defense Acquisition, Joint Capabilities Integration and Development, and Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution processes.
  • Strong critical and analytical skills in conducting the DoD standard for Capability-Based Assessment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with business process structures, optimization, integration, and modeling.
  • Familiarity with DoDAF, IC PAG, IC JARM, UPDM, SYSML, or UAF.
  • Experience with the Federal Integrated Business Framework (FIBF).
