The Griffin Museum of Science and Industry is seeking a highly skilled Foundation and Government Giving Officer to join our team. As a key member of our development department, you will play a critical role in identifying, recruiting, and managing government donors and partners to support our mission.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a government fundraising portfolio and relationships with government partners, ensuring strong communication and collaboration.
- Work closely with city, state, and federal agencies to identify funding opportunities and leverage government relationships for museum-related events and causes.
- Collaborate with division leaders to develop proposals and related tasks, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals.
- Directly manage the core activities for government fundraising, including identifying, cultivating, and stewarding donors.
- Represent the Museum at meetings and events related to government relations, showcasing our expertise and building strong relationships.
- Ensure the development of high-quality letters of inquiry, grant proposals, impact reports, and other essential communications.
- Create and maintain a calendar of proposal and reporting deadlines, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Arrange and coordinate government-related site visits as needed, providing exceptional customer service.
- Bachelor's degree with four to six years of related development experience, with a proven track record of success in government fundraising.
- Experience with Federal Grants, State, and City Funding opportunities, with a deep understanding of the application process.
- Some people management experience is a plus, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Demonstrable skills in successfully preparing proposals to government agencies, with a focus on quality and accuracy.
- Exceptional people and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate in a dynamic and engaging way.
- Experience in supporting new government relationships and managing the cultivation and stewardship process, with a focus on building strong partnerships.
- Ability to work in partnership with other Griffin MSI directors and leaders, ensuring seamless collaboration and communication.
- Must be a high-integrity team player who is results-driven and organized, with a focus on delivering exceptional results.
- Must be a poised and resourceful individual who is supportive, diplomatic, personable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Extreme focus on compliance with government guidelines and reporting channels, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong and sustaining giving programs, with a focus on long-term relationships and growth.
