Tax Compliance Specialist

We're seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to oversee all aspects of our company's tax obligations in both the U.S. and Canada.

This includes ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, managing tax planning strategies, and working closely with external auditors and tax advisors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax regulations in both countries, experience in a SaaS environment, and the ability to navigate the unique challenges of cross-border operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for U.S. operations, including income, sales, and use taxes
  • Manage Canadian tax compliance, including GST/HST and income tax returns
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all required tax documents and payments
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position in both the U.S. and Canada
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations in both countries, and assess their impact on the company
  • Provide guidance on tax implications of cross-border transactions, including transfer pricing and intercompany agreements
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate tax provisions are recorded in the financial statements
  • Prepare tax-related disclosures for financial reporting purposes
  • Assist in the preparation of tax forecasts and budgets
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax, with a focus on U.S. and Canadian tax compliance
  • Experience in the SaaS or technology industry is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws, as well as Canadian tax regulations
  • Familiarity with cross-border tax issues, including transfer pricing and intercompany transactions
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments
