Overview

Job Summary

The Sanitation Director will oversee the implementation and execution of sanitation protocols in the manufacturing facility. The role involves collaboration with QA, Operations, and Maintenance teams to ensure effective sanitation practices. Key responsibilities include leadership, industrial best practices, and technical liaison duties between departments. A positive work environment and adherence to food safety and employee safety standards are paramount.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership and supervision for teams to execute cleaning and sanitizing tasks effectively.
  • Monitors and adjusts cleaning systems/procedures to maintain optimal cleanliness of all processing areas.
  • Partners with management and production personnel to troubleshoot sanitation issues, recommending improvements to sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Routine assessment of cleaning and sanitation program effectiveness for continuous improvement.
  • Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for sanitation programs within the facility.
  • Ensures necessary sanitation oversight and resources are available to support the operation.
  • Conducts regular meetings with plant management to discuss sanitation findings.
  • Analyzes data and trends related to cleaning verification and validation activities, triggering corrective actions to ensure adherence to food safety and quality requirements.
Requirements
  • Progressive sanitation supervision experience in an FDA or USDA regulated food manufacturing facility.
  • Combination of wet and dry sanitation leadership experience driving a robust and sustainable sanitation program in food manufacturing.
  • Leadership ability to effectively lead direct and indirect crews to complete assigned sanitation tasks.
  • Instills a culture of accountability within the sanitation team.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills including root cause analysis, risk assessment, and corrective action.
  • Proven ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • HACCP and Internal Auditor certificates preferred.
Estimate Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 per year

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of Butterball's Drug/Alcohol Screening & Testing Policy. Details will be provided to individuals who receive a conditional job offer, or upon request.
