Role Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in supporting patients and healthcare teams by assisting with essential daily activities, monitoring health status, and ensuring a secure and pleasant environment for individuals in various healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Assistance:

  • Support patients with daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
  • Observe and report any changes in patients' physical and emotional well-being to nursing staff.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance patient comfort.

Health Monitoring:

  • Measure and document vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
  • Assist healthcare professionals with routine medical assessments and procedures.

Collaboration with Healthcare Staff:

  • Assist registered nurses and other healthcare providers in delivering quality care.
  • Prepare and maintain patient areas, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Help with patient mobility and transfers, utilizing assistive devices when necessary.

Documentation and Communication:

  • Maintain accurate records of patient care and observations.
  • Effectively communicate with patients, families, and the healthcare team to provide updates and address concerns.

Safety and Hygiene Protocols:

  • Adhere to safety and infection control guidelines to ensure a secure environment for patients and staff.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow hygiene practices.

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Must possess a valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification as mandated by state regulations.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a CNA training program is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare environment is preferred but not mandatory.

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Capacity to manage the physical and emotional demands of the role.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and procedures.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.

Physical Demands:
