Position Overview:

The Belcher Lab, situated within the Department of Biological Sciences, is engaged in significant research as part of the NC State Superfund Research Program and the Center for Health and the Human Environment. Our laboratory endeavors aim to enhance scientific knowledge and disseminate this understanding to local, regional, and global communities through environmental education and community-engaged research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute independent research projects under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator (PI) and collaborate with laboratory partners.
  • Engage with community stakeholders and contribute to collaborative efforts.
  • Provide training and mentorship to laboratory personnel and research trainees.
  • Participate in ongoing self-directed learning and pursue additional funding opportunities to support research initiatives.
  • Conduct laboratory and field research activities, and assist in the publication of research outcomes.
  • Facilitate community-engaged participatory research and manage related travel and grant preparation activities.
Work Schedule:

Full-time, Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week.

Required Qualifications:

Experience in molecular toxicology and relevant in vivo rodent models is essential. Familiarity with sample preparation, high-resolution mass spectrometry, and analytical techniques for monitoring environmental contaminants is preferred. Proficiency in scientific software for biostatistical analysis (e.g., R, Python) and machine learning is advantageous. Strong communication skills for interaction with study participants and stakeholders are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

A PhD in a relevant field with 0-5 years of postdoctoral experience is desired. Additional training in environmental health science, toxicology, or analytical chemistry, along with community engagement experience, is beneficial.

Licensure:

No specific licenses or certifications are required.

Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this position is between $50,000 and $60,000.
