Mountain Home Public Schools is seeking a skilled Transportation Fleet Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of vehicles and small engines to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in transportation vehicles and equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements
  • Operate specialized power tools, such as pneumatic tools, brake lathes, and bearing pressers
  • Inspect and repair wiring systems, lights, and electrical components
  • Perform engine and sub-assembly checks, repairs, and replacements
  • Order parts and supplies as needed
  • Provide emergency road service and perform preventative maintenance
  • Refuel buses and check fluids and tire pressure
  • Help maintain a clean and organized shop area
  • Assist with bus inspections and testing
  • Maintain records of parts used and maintenance performed
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in repair and maintenance of automotive equipment
  • Arkansas Class B CDL with P and S endorsement required
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects, up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions

The Transportation Fleet Mechanic will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to loud noises, hazardous materials, and physical demands. The employee must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery.
