Position Overview
The Fitness and Wellness Program Coordinator is responsible for the strategic development, management, and implementation of fitness and wellness initiatives that directly engage students and enhance their overall educational experience beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction for the collegiate recreation fitness program, which encompasses group fitness, personal training, fitness assessments, and special fitness events.
- Collaborate with various campus departments to promote wellness initiatives that support student success.
- Oversee the daily operations of fitness facilities, including the management of satellite fitness locations, equipment procurement, and overall facility management.
- Design, coordinate, and facilitate training programs for fitness staff, including group fitness instructors and personal trainers, focusing on professional development and student engagement.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in health fitness, recreation, physical education, sport management, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience in the fitness industry, including graduate assistant roles.
- Certification from a recognized national association in group exercise and/or personal training.
- Proven experience in creating and executing fitness programs, policies, and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience in supervising fitness personnel and developing campus-wide fitness initiatives.
- Certification as a CPR/First Aid Instructor.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
