GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in delivering pharmaceutical care to our diverse clientele. This includes overseeing the medication packaging process and ensuring accurate outcomes while adhering to all relevant state and federal regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate must possess a valid Pharmacy Technician license from the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy or the Oregon Board of Pharmacy, depending on the state of employment. A National Certification (CPhT, ExCPT, or equivalent) is preferred, along with less than three years of professional experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Pharmacy Technician is expected to:
- Embrace and embody the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization in all actions and decisions.
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation of prescriptions, which encompasses various tasks related to resource management, dispensing, clerical duties, and billing.
- Ensure accurate documentation of services and supplies provided to patients as part of revenue management.
- Engage in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Understand the limitations of responsibilities as a registered technician in medication dispensing and operate within the defined scope of practice.
- Transport medications to patient rooms or designated nursing areas.
- Retrieve unused medications from patient locations or nursing stations.
Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to foster a collaborative team environment. The candidate should be adaptable to the dynamic roles and schedules within the institution.
