Job Title: ROI Medical Records Specialist

The ROI Medical Records Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting client sites with Release of Information (ROI) requests for patient medical records. This position requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Determine records to be released by reviewing requestor information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and obtaining pertinent patient data from various sources.
  2. Answer phone calls concerning various ROI issues and respond to walk-in customers requesting medical records.
  3. Process requests from physician offices on a priority basis and fax information to the physician office as needed.
  4. Log medical record requests into the ROI On-Line database and scan medical records into the database.
  5. Comply with site facility policies and regulations, including handling and recording cash payments for requests.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, with one or more years of experience entering data into computer systems.
  • Ability to work independently and meet production goals established by MRO.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and success responding to customer inquiries.
  • Success working in an environment that requires attention to detail and a proven track record of dependability.
  • High School Diploma/GED required, with prior work experience in Release of Information in a physician's office or HIM Department a plus.
