Floor Care Specialist

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, quality assessment and improvement programs, and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Work from a schedule that outlines and defines frequency and timing or tasks. Lead works with cleaning crew or assigned projects. Perform duties of housekeeper when not assigned project work.
- Empty trash, biomedical waste and recyclables and transport to central collection site. Transport from site to compactor/recycling dock. Operate compactor. Package biomedical waste.
- Strip and refinish floors, extract carpets. Dry mop and wet mop floors.
- Wash walls and windows. Hang and remove draperies and cubicle curtains. Wash, repair beds, wheelchairs, geri chairs and other patient equipment and/or furnishings.
- Move, remove, and relocate furniture, furnishings, equipment, etc. as directed. Set-ups for meetings, activities and special programs.
- Perform isolation and terminal cleaning following prescribed procedures.
- Communicate effectively and tactfully with residents/patients recognizing their age, needs, abilities and physical condition.
- Attend department & MHC meetings and inservice programs.
- Understand and follow universal precautions as it pertains to their department.
- Perform all duties in a manner that demonstrates safety, respect, care and concern for our residents/patients/clients and staff. Report to clinical staff any concerns that might warrant attention on behalf of the resident. Maintain a healthy, clean, safe environment for the population of MHC.
- Operate vacuum cleaners and some mechanical floor/carpet machinery.
- Remove and hang window draperies and cubicle curtains.
- Wash window draperies and cubicle curtains. Wash walls, vents, etc.
- Assist other MHC Departments as needed.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education: High School or GED
Experience: Must have floor Care experience, and On-The-job Training
