Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the Infrastructure Automation Engineer is to design, maintain, and oversee a virtual infrastructure, leveraging automation to optimize processes. This role also involves ensuring the infrastructure's security, reliability, comprehensive documentation, and proper backup procedures. The ideal candidate will prioritize automation to minimize repetitive tasks.

Technology Stack

  • Applications developed using Ruby on Rails and Node.js, with PostgreSQL and MongoDB for data storage, alongside Redis, Memcached, Elasticsearch, and WebSockets.
  • CI/CD processes utilizing Spinnaker and Jenkins.
  • Infrastructure as Code practices with Terraform and Ansible.
  • Utilization of multiple cloud services, including AWS and Google Cloud.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with software engineers to enhance their development experience.
  • Implement application-level modifications to introduce new tools and adapt to evolving infrastructure.
  • Automate workflows to streamline processes and accelerate product delivery.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and training materials for departmental use.
  • Coordinate with software engineers to ensure application updates align with infrastructure requirements and make necessary adjustments.
  • Monitor the virtual infrastructure and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to address alerts.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in infrastructure and operations, including roles such as SRE, systems engineering, or system administration.
  • Proven coding skills or software engineering experience.
  • Experience with server automation tools like Ansible.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, specifically AWS and/or Google Cloud.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficient in SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
  • Adept at navigating unfamiliar codebases.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Effective communicator who proactively seeks assistance and support.
  • Demonstrates ownership of tasks and drives them to completion.

Preferred Skills (not mandatory)

  • Knowledge of the Ruby on Rails framework.
  • Experience in technical writing.

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
