Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk plays a crucial role in managing the flow of goods within the warehouse. This position is responsible for the accurate receipt and posting of retail and stock orders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect incoming shipments and verify contents against documentation such as invoices and orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Document shipment details, including weight, charges, and any discrepancies for recordkeeping and reporting purposes.
  • Prepare necessary shipping documents, including work orders and bills of lading, to facilitate the routing of materials.
  • Communicate with company representatives to resolve issues related to damages, shortages, or noncompliance with specifications.
  • Package, seal, label, and prepare items for shipment using various tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate with carrier representatives to arrange shipping and delivery of goods.
  • Transport materials to different departments using hand trucks or sorting bins.
  • Manage inventory of shipping materials and supplies to ensure availability.
  • Evaluate shipping methods, routes, and rates for outgoing materials.
  • Calculate costs related to shipping, storage, and other charges using available resources.
  • Perform heavy lifting as required (up to 50 lbs).
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, as some delivery driving may be required.
  • Previous experience with inventory management systems and shipping/receiving processes is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Experience in an Automotive or Diesel parts warehouse is advantageous.
