Job Summary:

CAMBA is seeking a Housing Specialist to join our team at the Atlantic House Men's Shelter in Brooklyn. As a Housing Specialist, you will play a critical role in assisting clients in attaining their housing-related goals by identifying and referring them to appropriate services within and outside CAMBA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct housing search efforts for each housing-ready client referred, including referrals to housing providers, contact with landlords, and searching for apartment listings.

• Develop curriculum to address clients' housing and independent living-related needs, including permanent housing search processes and options.

• Develop and facilitate a series of housing workshops to educate clients on housing-related topics.

• Establish linkages with community-based organizations, local real estate experts, and landlords to provide clients with access to housing resources.

• Review all approved housing packages to determine the appropriateness of housing providers.

• Follow up with clients for a period of time after move-out to ensure client stability.

• Conduct initial intake and psychosocial evaluations, as well as periodic re-assessments, to ensure clients receive the necessary support.

• Obtain and maintain relevant documentation and release forms from clients, including birth certificates, proof of income, medical documents, and release of personal health information.

• Assist clients in attaining their goals by identifying barriers, community resources, and referring clients to appropriate services within and outside CAMBA.

• Monitor and document all client encounters via progress notes using the DHS CARES Database and printout notes for clients' paper files.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience.

• Bi-lingual preferred.

• May be required to become First Aid/CPR certified and/or certified in overdose prevention.
