Facilities Equipment Mechanic OMCBR Part Time Weekends

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for the execution of repairs or replacement of affected equipment in assigned areas.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to and repair specialty systems, including the nurse call system, fire alarm system, television system, medical gas system, and ceiling system.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections in accordance with scheduled checkpoints and maintain documentation accordingly.
- Assume responsibility for any maintenance on laundry equipment, portable phones, pagers, beds, wheelchairs, surgical equipment, pneumatic tubes, SPD equipment, sterilizers, Telelifts, and associated equipment within assigned areas.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years of experience in commercial, industrial, or hospital maintenance required.
- Experience with all hand and power tools required.
- Preferred: Healthcare experience, trade school or company school with a license or certification when required by a Regulatory Agency or Ochsner Health System.
- Familiarity with a wide range of skilled crafts, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC-R, and carpentry.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a can-do attitude.
- Mechanical inclination with the ability to multi-task and work with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of state, parish, and building codes, as well as JCAHO standards.
- Self-directed with the ability to handle mental and physical stress/pressure to complete all jobs, including emergencies.
The physical essential functions of this job include (but are not limited to) the following: Frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects; occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning, and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid, or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur.
The incumbent works with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases and may enter isolation rooms. The incumbent has an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.
