Job Title: Building Operations Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Operations Engineer to join our team at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in Manhattan. As a key member of our Building Operations Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our buildings.

Responsibilities:
  • Participate in department record keeping and reporting.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs of building systems, including HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, lighting, electrical, and life safety systems.
  • Operate machinery and equipment as directed.
  • Promote sustainability by making adjustments to energy-consuming systems and incorporating sustainable practices into assignments.
  • Respond to and complete requests from the Building Operations office in a timely manner.
  • Supervise and coordinate with contractors as directed.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including completion of work orders and maintenance of databases.
  • Conduct regular building inspections to ensure compliance with scheduled and periodic maintenance requirements.
  • Monitor environmental issues and provide field reports.
  • Monitor and adjust computerized control systems, including BMS and lighting systems.
  • Participate in training and remain current with new industry practices, legislative changes, and technologies.
  • Maintain all necessary licenses and certifications.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with some college preferred.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Valid NYC Certificate of Qualification for Refrigerating System Operating Engineer (Q-01) and Certificate of Fitness for Citywide Sprinkler and Standpipe Systems (S-12 and S-13).
  • Experience in general building maintenance, including lighting, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
  • Ability to monitor, respond, and react to building conditions and operate BMS systems.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and evenings.
