POSITION: QUALITY INSPECTOR (COMPOSITES) – 2ND SHIFT

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct thorough in-process evaluations on composite components for launch vehicles, utilizing detailed schematics, CAD models, and established protocols to ensure adherence to manufacturing and design specifications.
  • Verify compliance with company policies regarding the receipt and storage of composite raw materials.
  • Record production discrepancies in line with established procedures and protocols as necessary.
  • Assist in the documentation of quality management system (QMS) policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with company and industry standards; lead initiatives for continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing practices.
  • Facilitate the Material Review Board (MRB) process by documenting and managing discrepancies.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • A minimum of 2 years of inspection experience within aerospace, military, or manufacturing sectors.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Associate degree in a technical or engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality assurance, inspection, or manufacturing roles.
  • Possession of an A&P license.
  • In-depth knowledge of composite lay-up laser alignment and composite ply cutting systems.
  • Ability to interpret cure reports and vendor-supplied conformance certifications.
  • Hands-on experience with GD&T and proficient use of measurement tools and gauges.
  • Experience with system integration.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing enterprise resource planning systems, electronic databases, and digital work instructions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with engineering and production teams.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and capable of managing assigned priorities and tasks.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety programs and OSHA regulations.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Availability to work 2nd shift hours (Monday-Friday, 3pm - 1:30am), with potential for overtime and weekend shifts as necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. without assistance.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods, a minimum of 8 hours.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, and navigate in confined spaces.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Quality Inspector /Level 1: $31.00/hour
Quality Inspector /Level 2: $37.00/hour
Quality Inspector /Level 3: $43.00/hour

Your specific level and base salary will be determined based on various factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one component of your overall rewards package at SpaceX. You may also qualify for long-term incentives, such as company stock, stock options, or cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and opportunities to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
