Defender Investigator

About the Position
The Snohomish County Public Defender Association is seeking a highly skilled Investigator Level I to join our team. This role involves conducting thorough investigations to support case attorneys in defending indigent clients. As an Investigator, you will be responsible for gathering information, analyzing evidence, and communicating with witnesses and other stakeholders. We are looking for someone with a strong background in investigation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities as an Investigator will include organizing and conducting investigations, interviewing witnesses, reviewing evidence, and preparing reports. You will also be responsible for coordinating with attorneys, serving subpoenas, and testifying in court as needed. Additionally, you may be required to work with electronic devices, input information, and read data from screens. We require a high level of attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience in the criminal justice system. You should also have excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Strong computer skills, including email, word processing, and online research, are essential. Furthermore, you should be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered during performance of duties.

Working Environment
