Overview

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in criminal defense law, including experience with motions practice and trial work. They will be expected to provide zealous representation to assigned clients at all stages of legal proceedings, while also contributing to the advancement of social justice within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Defend Clients: Provide legal representation to assigned clients at all stages of legal proceedings, including pre-trial negotiations, bench trials, and jury trials.
  • Courtroom Expertise: Develop and execute effective courtroom strategies to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Motions Practice: Prepare and bring motions to court, including bail hearings, suppression hearings, and sentencing hearings.
  • Investigation and Research: Conduct thorough investigations into cases, including reviewing reports and court pleadings, researching legal issues, and counseling clients involved in these proceedings.
Requirements:

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

  • A License to Practice Law in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association.
  • An Equivalent Combination of Education and Experience that demonstrates the skills, knowledge, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Demonstrated willingness and qualification to handle Class A offenses.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively manage complex cases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, colleagues, and court stakeholders.
