Job Description:

We are seeking a Transmission Engineer III to join our team. As a key member of our design group, you will function as a Transmission Engineer on assigned projects of varying complexity.

Your responsibilities will include designing or assisting in the design of various transmission and distribution line projects. This includes planning and design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic attachment.

You will be responsible for developing material lists in Excel spreadsheets, structure framing structure details, specifying parts, hardware, insulators, and grounding details for different pole materials.

You will also be familiar with environmental and licensing processes and how to coordinate issues in the transmission line design process.

In addition, you will site new transmission lines, coordinate and assess the impacts of real estate, licensing, and environmental constraints on the overall engineering process.

You will develop project schedules that incorporate all facets of design, client reviews, licensing, and all other activities for successful project completion.

You will develop plan-profile drawings under your direction and a complete design package that incorporates all necessary details for construction.

This includes work lists, construction staking tables, stringing sag charts, and material and construction specifications.

You will perform engineering calculations to assure safety and performance of equipment and systems.

You will coordinate equipment delivery and design engineering to meet construction schedules.

You will assist in checking completed jobs for adequacy of design and documentation.

You will monitor the construction of transmission line projects to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as Resident Engineer on projects of any magnitude.
  • Safety and Security -- Observes safety and security procedures; Determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Interpret complex plans and specifications and apply available information to ensure that all project design requirements are satisfied.
  • Maintain familiarity with appropriate engineering and construction codes and ensure compliance with all codes.
  • Assist in preparation and/or monitoring of complex construction schedules to ensure timely completion of the work.
  • Assist in on-site design or investigation work to ensure adequacy of contractor's methods.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, Civil/Structural Engineering, or related.
  • 5+ years experience within electrical transmission line design engineering.
  • P.E. preferred, or EIT, with the ability to be certified as a professional engineer as soon as eligible.
  • Proficiency with Power Line and Structure modeling for computer aided and design development. PLS-CADD and associated modules (POLE, TOWER), Excel, MFAD or Lpile, NESC.
  • Knowledge in ACI, ASCE Pole manual, AISC Steel manual preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity with industry codes standards and practices for electric utility practice.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated initiative and ability to lead. Attention to detail.

Salary:$90,000 - $130,000 per year
