Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Fabrication Specialist to join our team at NSC Staffing. As a key member of our fabrication team, you will be responsible for operating various machines and equipment to fabricate and weld metal components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate fabrication and welding machinery and equipment
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
  • Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule or template
  • Position workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade
  • Push button or depress pedal to activate machine
  • Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction
  • Measure workpiece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from workpiece
  • Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines, dies or workpieces
  • Set up and perform maintenance on fab and machine shop machines and perform burning work
  • Operate any equipment needed to perform job
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervision
  • Use various welding equipment such as: hand-welding and flame-cutting equipment (arc welders, gas welders, and gas torches) to weld together various metal components
  • Join various components of fabricated sheet metal assemblies
  • Cut, trim, or scarf metal objects to dimensions, as specified by layout, customers' work orders, or blueprints or sketches
  • Operate grinders to smooth and polish welds

Requirements:

  • 3 years of welding experience
  • 1 year of TIG welding experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Mathematical skills such as: adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to read and interpret metal rule
  • Reasoning ability such as: commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Work Environment:

While performing duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to flying particles of dust and metal pieces. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
