About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team at a cutting-edge autonomous vehicle robotics start-up in Boston, Massachusetts. As a pivotal member of the engineering team, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and refining mechanical systems integral to our autonomous vehicle technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of innovative mechanical systems for autonomous vehicles, including chassis, drivetrain, suspension, and thermal management systems.
  • Oversee the prototyping and testing of mechanical components and systems, ensuring they meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems with software and electrical components.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in autonomous vehicle technology.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical design and development, with a focus on complex systems (experience in autonomous vehicles or robotics strongly preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent). Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. Experience with FEA and simulation tools for mechanical analysis. Knowledge of automotive or aerospace industry standards and regulations.
