Key Responsibilities

As a Staff Accountant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Controller in daily, monthly, and annual operations of the Accounting/Finance Department, including managing grants and federal contract expense coding along with client invoicing.
  • Preparing monthly journal entries and reviewing general ledger activities to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices and reimbursements in line with finance policies.
  • Overseeing the processing of cash receipts, and accurately recording revenue and receivables.
  • Conducting bank reconciliations and other necessary reconciliations.
  • Assisting with month-end financial reporting and annual audit processes.
  • Maintaining financial records and addressing any accounting discrepancies.
  • Adapting to evolving business requirements and taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
Essential Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline, or 3-5 years of pertinent experience.
  • A solid grasp of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (advanced skills preferred).
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
Required Skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret financial documents and regulations.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including basic algebra and geometry.
  • Capacity to resolve practical issues with limited standardization.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
