About the Position
The City of Seattle seeks a visionary leader to serve as the Head of Public Safety and Law Enforcement. This critical role is responsible for overseeing the delivery of police services to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce gun violence and other violent crimes, prioritizing evidence-based solutions and enforcement strategies.
- Lead the implementation of holistic, community-led solutions to disrupt violence and reduce gun crime, collaborating with community partners, other city departments, and partner agencies.
- Recruit, hire, and retain officers who reflect Seattle's values and diverse communities, emphasizing diversity across all ranks, including succession planning and retention efforts.
- Ensure SPD operations, programs, resources, and employees equitably address the city's public safety needs, optimizing community policing and crime prevention and reduction strategies.
- Align department operations with city objectives, the law, service equity, and regulatory compliance, promptly identifying and resolving organizational issues in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Salary
The salary range for this position is estimated at $217,444 - $347,944 per year, determined by City ordinance.
